Chen Steiner

Chen Steiner is a choreographer, dancer, and contemporary dance educator based in Tel Aviv. Born in 1994 in Ramat Gan, she began her dance journey at the "Balance" Dance School of Osnat Reiter in Giv'atayim. Chen is a graduate of the International Dancer Training Workshop by Vertigo Dance Company and the Angela Dance Company program in Jerusalem.

She is also a graduate of the "Deconstruction" teaching course by Naomi Perlov, and completed a two-year choreography program at the Kelim Center for Choreography in Bat Yam. Currently, she is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Dance Education (B.Ed. Dance) in the Mode program for choreographers at Kibbutzim College of Education, Technology and the Arts in Tel Aviv.

Chen performs in works by various choreographers and creators, including Tamar Binyamini, Jenny Briger, Lior Lazarof, Yankalle Filtser, Tal Grimza, Daniela Maroz, and more.

 

Since 2021, Chen has been creating her own original works, which have been featured in several festivals, including Tami Festival, "Solo Gallery" at Machol Shalem, Vertigo Dance Company's Festival in Jerusalem, Asif Festival at the Kelim Center for Choreography in Bat Yam, and Zuzima Festival in Mitzpe Ramon, among others.

In May 2023, Chen was awarded the BIDE scholarship from the Barcelona International Dance Exchange, enabling her to participate in the main program in Barcelona. That same year, she was invited as a guest artist to the Quinzena de Dança de Almada Festival in Portugal.

In April 2024, Chen went on a performance tour in Japan with her piece "Frames," showcased at the DanceXScrum Festival in Yokohama and the Salon Artists Festival in Osaka. In June 2025, she will perform "Frames" at the TanzArt Festival in Belgium.

As a choreographer, Chen has been awarded artist residencies by the Givatayim Municipality and Vertigo Dance Company.​ Chen has been teaching contemporary dance for over a decade, specializing in technique, performance, and improvisation. She fosters an environment that encourages self-expression, collaboration, and personal growth.
